Our very own Alexandra Najarro has placed 13th with her debut performance in Colorado Springs during the 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.

Congratulations Alexandra Najarro on your 4th place finish at the Nationals!

Alexandra's strong performances in both short and long Senior Women at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Moncton, New Brunswick have earned her the 4th place finish, a spot again at the National Team and most of all a ticket to the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, USA on February 6 - 12, 2012.

YRSA National Novice medalists!

National Titles given out in Moncton!

Tuesday saw the conclusion of the novice events at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Moncton, N.B. Once again skaters from coast-to-coast took to the ice to vie for national titles at the Moncton Coliseum Complex. It was the Central Ontario Section that took top honours in the novice level; they won gold in men’s, women’s, pair and ice dance.

Our very own Anthony Kan won the Canadian title with 123.41 points. Fellow YRSA teammate Roman Sadovsky picked up the silver medal with 115.11 points and Quebec’s Nicholas Nadeau the bronze with 113.77 points.

Congratulations to Anthony and Roman! We are so proud of your accomplishments!

Attention! Attention! Volunteers needed for Winter Glitters!

Dear Club Members,

With the Winter Glitters competition fast approaching, we need all the helping hands we can get to make this event an ever bigger success than before. This is the second time our club is hosting the competition and we know that with everybody's active involvement we will bring more proceeds to the club.

The YRSA Board of Directors is introducing the skater's fund this year and ALL the proceeds will go directly to this fund. As a member of the club, your child can benefit from it as long as you are able to contribute some time at this or any other club event this year. In addition, you will show your child/ren that you care about the club they spend so many hours skating at and working along other volunteer parents will definitively show appreciation one for another. So please sign up your name on the board for the volunteer position that you are comfortable in.

Another great help is to donate a raffle prize for the event. All proceeds from raffles generate 100% profit for the skater's fund.

We hope to see you all at the event!

YRSA has been running a very succesful CanSkate progran for many, many years and due to a high demand from the local community we have created new sessions for all levels of learm-to-skate programs. Our newest addition is Intro to Junior Academy that is in fact a stepping stone to the Junior Academy program. The overwhelming succes of YRSA CanSkate program relies not only with the enthiusiasm of the new skaters but also with the dedication and expertise of our competetive coaches that teach the program.

Five YRSA skaters to compete at Nationals in Moncton!

Approximately 260 skaters in the women’s, men’s, pair and ice dance disciplines will compete at the senior, junior and novice levels at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships held in Moncton, NB on January 16 - 22, 2012. Athletes will vie for spots on the Skate Canada National Team and the Canadian teams that will compete at the 2012 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, the 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and the 2012 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.

YRSA is very proud to have five skaters to qualify for the Nationals. Alexandra Najarro, current National Team Member, will compete for the third time in Senior Women. Alexander Zahariev is making his first trip as a Junior Men to the event, followed by Roman Sadovsky, Anthony Kan and Leslie Ip competing in the Novice Men category.
